rookie programSo you want to learn something new...
Our Rookie program is specifically designed for beginners to the game. There is no doubt that Rugby is a complicated sport but our coaches will make it easily understandable by running you through the basics of the game and teaching you fundamental skills. Through this program you will learn how the game is played, how to play it safely and how playing Rugby can affect your everyday life. You will be matched up with others at the same ability level as you and we will never make you run before you can walk. Our coaching team will ensure that you will make friends, become more confident and discover what makes Rugby a way of life and not just another game. Unlike other costly sports, Rugby can be played a the beginning with just a ball and a pair of shoes. As we move on, you'll need a couple of things but a mouthgard and a pair of cleats is pretty much it, making Rugby a much more cost effective option than some of the other sports out there. Rugby in Saskatchewan has long been a time studded tradition, it is played from Moose Jaw to Lloydminster and everywhere in between. The province has produced some excellent senior Rugby Internationals and currently have junior players on both U18 and U19 XV National squads.
This great Rugby Province has also produced some excellent female athletes of which have won silver medals at the Women's World Cup and played at on the World Sevens series. 306 Rugby is an athlete development centre that caters for boys, girls, 7s and 15s players. We are inclusive and our volunteers only strive to make you the best you can be. It's an exciting time for Saskatchewan Rugby, you should be part of it. |
What's our motivation? |
All of the great things we do in life, usually start from a young age. In my native country of Wales, we are taught to play Rugby from the moment we can hold a ball. It is no secret that the youth of today are the Internationals of tomorrow and we are here to develop, coach and guide them on a journey towards reaching their goals.
Some will have dreams of greatness, to go on to play for their Country, some are in need of some self confidence and others are looking for a way to escape a life of trouble. What ever your motivation, we will dedicate ourselves to making sure we deliver exactly what you need. |
"Rugby is much more than a game, it is a lifestyle"
"You don't make friends in Rugby, you gain family" These all might sound a little cliche but they are true, the best friends you will meet in your life are the ones you play Rugby with. There is an old British saying that says "Rugby is a hooligans game played by gentlemen", this could not be farther from the truth, it is true that Rugby is a tough game and it is played hard but I guarantee you that it is far from a hooligans game. Rugby in my eyes is about having a great time with your best friends. |
Whether you have been playing for years and are looking to make it to the next level, or starting out with something new, we have a program for that. Our coaching team run sessions specific to your abilities.

DEDICATED ATHLETES |
Saskatchewan has one of the toughest climates on earth and the dedication our athletes give to the sport is second to none. We play when it snows and when it shines.
Of course when it gets too cold outside we retreat to the warmth of the indoors where we work hard on skills and tactics. We have developed excellent relationships with athletes of all ages and their parents, we want them to be assured that safety is the number one key in all that we do and we will never ask an athlete to participate in some they are either not ready for or do not want to do. In 2016/17 we held a total of 24 winter rugby sessions and had a combined attendance of 293 athletes. That works out to 586 hours of rugby training that would not have happened without our program. All of the players that participated in these saw a huge improvement in their game and the high school coaches have confirmed the increased level of ability. On top of this we arranged for 24 Strength and Conditioning classes for our athletes, free of charge. We have the saying, that: "Winter Training creates Summer Champions". |
